Zoo fundraising event will provide money for research that could help unlock the keys to Parkinson, Alzheimer’s, and other devastating illness connected to mitochondrial disease.

August 2007, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, with its National Headquarters located in Plum Borough, will host BREW AT THE ZOO, on August 11, 2007 from 7 – 11 pm. The event will feature over 100 specialty custom brewed beers, plus food, prizes and entertainment.

Guests will dance to the rocking music of Funkmeister Fatty, and the acoustic sound of popular band Here and Now. Food will be provided by Ribkens, chicken, pizza and ribs, and Tony and Nino’s in the strip. There will also be a special appearance by local sports broadcasting legend, Mark Madden, of Fox Sports Radio.

Sipping specialty beer has become very trendy over the past few years, and 35 different breweries will be participating in BREW AT THE ZOO. From local Rivertowne Pour House, to well known Yuengling Brewery and Molson, beer enthusiasts are sure to find their favorite, plus experience some new and exciting blends.

Tickets are $35.00 a person and are available at the UMDF offices at 8085 Saltsburg Road (route 380) in Plum, or on line at www.UMDF.org United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation members and local parents who have children afflicted with mitochondrial disease, will be guests on The Cool Stuff Radio Show every Saturday in August.
