John A. "Jack" Gustavson
of Plum
John A. "Jack" Gustavson, 60, of Plum, formerly of Verona, died Aug. 29, 2009.
He was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Pittsburgh and was a son of the late Carl and Margaret (McDonough) Gustavson.
Mr. Gustavson, a graduate of the former Verona High School, was a Vietnam War Marines veteran. He worked at the Oakmont Water Authority for 26 years and served as the union president.
Surviving are his wife, Diane (Miller) Gustavson; a son, Brian Gustavson and his wife, Erin, of Mesa, Ariz.; two stepchildren, Alvin "Butch" Miller and his wife, Caryn, of Plum and Elizabeth Mowry and her husband, Kenneth, of O'Hara; his twin brother, James Gustavson of Springdale; two sisters, Lois Dalsass of Murrysville and Peggy Nicholas of Allison Park; and three grandchildren, Alex and Ryan Miller and Cade Mowry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ricker.
Visitation and services, with the Rev. Donald Blinn Jr., were at Burket-Truby Funeral Home Cremation & Alternative Services Inc., Oakmont. Burial was in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County.
Philomena G. Pisani
of Plum
Philomena G. "Minnie" Pisani of Plum died Sept. 21, 2009.
Surviving are her husband, Manuel Pisani; a daughter, Vera Davis; and three grandchildren.
A son, David M. Pisani, preceded her in death.
Visitation and services were at Gene H. Corl Inc. Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center of Monroeville. Interment was private.
Jason E. Daugherty
of Plum
Jason E. Daugherty, 30, of Plum, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.
He was born July 2, 1979, in New Kensington and was a son of Dennis A. Daugherty of Plum and Marcy J. Davis of Plum.
A lifelong resident of Plum, he worked as a truck driver.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Saphia Daugherty; a brother, Shaun Daugherty; and his grandmothers, Betty Davis of Renton and Regina Daugherty of Logan's Ferry.
Visitation and services, officiated by the Rev. Peter Pilarski, pastor of St. Januarius Catholic Church in Plum, were at the Stephen P. Dolence Jr. Funeral Home Inc., Plum. Burial was in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending contributions to a trust fund set up for Mr. Daugherty's children
Todd R. Purvis
of Greensburg, formerly of Plum
Todd R. Purvis, 53, of Greensburg, formerly of Plum, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009.
He was the beloved husband of Darcee S.P. Purvis; loving father of Derek (Laura) Purvis and Shane Purvis; son of Margaret and the late Robert Purvis; brother of Deborah (Stephen) Moulton; son-in-law of Laura Pratt and the late Robert Pratt; brother-in-law of Lilas Pratt and Sydney (James) Girardi; uncle of Michael Moulton, Micky (Katie) Girardi, Chris Girardi and Kinsey Girardi; nephew of Carol Vaporetti.
Todd loved his children and loved sports. He coached hockey for more than 20 years for Allegheny Hockey and various high schools, including Plum, Penn Hills, Woodland Hills, North Allegheny and Penn Trafford. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Maurice L. Knee Ltd. Funeral Home, 7663 Saltsburg Road (across from S&T Bank), Plum. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Baptist Church. Everyone please meet at church.
In lieu of flowers, the Purvis family suggests memorials to the Purvis Children Education Fund at S&T Bank, 701 E. Pittsburgh St., attn: Judy Soles, Greensburg, PA 15601.
