Plum resident appointed assistant vice president

Wayne Suprano Jr., of Plum, has joined AmeriServ Financial as assistant vice president and business banker for the business lending and commercial loan department.

Suprano has more than 26 years of banking experience and formerly was employed by National City Bank of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh.

In his new position, Suprano will be responsible for new business development throughout Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Robert Morris University in 1981. Suprano volunteers for the Jimmy V. Foundation for Cancer Research, the Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up, the Junior Diabetes Annual Walk, the Kiwanis Club of Pittsburgh and Habitat for Humanity.

McCabe

U.S. Army Maj. John McCabe, of Plum, has been named the new senior vice president of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum Trust.

McCabe brings 20 years of corporate and legal experience to Soldiers and Sailors and he has been legal counsel for the organization since 2001. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1987 with a degree in marketing.

While working for Aetna and Travelers Insurance, McCabe attended Duquesne School of Law and graduated in 1999.

He is a major in the U.S. Army with more than 17 years of active and reserve duty experience. He entered the military in 1985 while he was in college and was awarded a Reserve Officers Training Corps scholarship.

McCabe served on active duty during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Today, he is serving as a major with the 153rd Legal Support Organization and has just returned from active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 99th Regional Readiness Command Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.

McCabe, son of Bernard and Barbara McCabe of Turtle Creek, lives in Plum with his wife, Caroline, and daughters Marisa and Camryn.

Magnus

Gregory Magnus, an insurance producer with E.R. Munro and Co., will begin teaching insurance and bonds to apprentice auctioneers at Reading Area Community College.

Magnus, of Plum, one of E. R. Munro's leading producers, has been employed by E.R. Munro since September 2004. Magnus and his wife, Kathleen, have two sons, Brian and Kevin.
